# Generate Backup Codes

Generate backup codes to access your account if your authenticator app is unavailable.

## Generate Backup Codes

<Steps>
<Step title="Sign in to WatchDog Security">
  Sign in to the [**WatchDog Security Platform**](app.watchdogsecurity.io).
</Step>

<Step title="Open Settings">
  Navigate to **User Profile** > **Settings**.
</Step>

<Step title="Select Security Tab">
  Click on the **Security** tab within the Settings page.
</Step>

<Step title="Generate Backup Codes">
  Click **Generate New Backup Codes** to create a new set.
</Step>

## What Happens Next

<TipInfo>A new set of backup codes is generated instantly.</TipInfo>
<TipInfo>Each code can be used once for authentication.</TipInfo>
<TipInfo>Previous backup codes are invalidated after generating new ones.</TipInfo>

## Troubleshooting
