# Reset a User’s 2FA

This article explains how to reset a user’s 2FA configuration in the MSP Portal. This is typically required if a user loses access to their authenticator device.

Only users with the **Modify Users** permission can update users

# Reset a User’s 2FA
To clear a user’s multi-factor authentication setup so they can reconfigure it on next sign-in, follow the steps below:

        Sign in to the **[WatchDog MSP Portal](https://app.watchdogsecurity.io/)**

        From the account context switcher, select the MSP Portal
      </Step>
      <Step>
        From the Left Hand Navigation Menu, select **Users**
      </Step>
      <Step>
        Select the **Users** Tab
      </Step> 
       <Step>
        (Optional) Under **Node,** select the node the user belongs under
      </Step>
       <Step>
        Locate the user.
      </Step>
       <Step>
        In the **Actions** column, click the **⋮ (Actions Menu)**.
      </Step>
       <Step>
        Select **Reset 2FA**.
      </Step>
       <Step>
        Confirm the action.
      </Step>
    </Steps>

The user’s 2FA configuration is reset immediately.
