MSPs manage customer environments in WatchDog through Managed Companies. Once a Managed Company exists, authorized MSP users can access it using Assume Tenant. Access to a Managed Company is not automatic. A user must be granted permission by their MSP node role.Only users with the Access Managed Company or Access Managed Company (Read-Only) permission(s) can access Managed Companies.

What Happens After You Assume a Tenant#
When you select Launch, WatchDog switches your session into the customer’s tenant environment. You are now operating inside the customer portal, but still authenticated as an MSP user. Your available actions depend entirely on your MSP role permissions:| Permission | Experience Inside Tenant |
|---|
| Access Managed Company | Full operational access equivalent to a Security Administrator. You can configure settings, run actions, and manage tenant data. |
| Access Managed Company (Read-Only) | Visibility only. You can review posture, users, devices, alerts, and configurations, but cannot create, modify, or delete anything. |
How Node Scope Affects What You Can Access#
Managed Companies belong to specific MSP nodes. Your node assignment determines which companies appear in your list and which tenants you can launch.Parent Node Role Assignment#
| Configuration | Accessible Companies |
|---|
| Users without Cascade Permissions | Only companies assigned directly to the parent node |
| Users with Cascade Permissions | Companies in the parent node and all child nodes |
Child Node Role Assignment#
Cascade permissions are not available to roles created at the Child MSP node level.
| Configuration | Accessible Companies |
|---|
| Users without Cascade Permissions | Only companies assigned to that specific child node |
