Update Inventory Item

Who can use this feature?
All Account Owners and Security Admins
Any End Users assigned as an owner to one or more inventory item
Available on the Free, Core and Business plans

Update Inventory Item#

Sign in to WatchDog Security
Sign in to the WatchDog Security Platform.

Open Inventory
Navigate to Inventory from the left-hand menu.

Select Inventory Item
Click the inventory item you want to update.

Edit Field
Click the edit icon next to fields like Owner, Description, or Data Classifications.

Update Values
Modify the selected field with updated information.

Save Changes
Click the confirmation icon to save updates.

What Happens Next#

The updated values are immediately reflected in the inventory item.
Ownership and classification changes affect tracking and responsibility.
Updates are used for compliance and reporting purposes.

Troubleshooting#

Cannot Edit Inventory Item
If editing fails:
Ensure you have access to the item
Verify the field is editable
Refresh the page and retry
Changes Not Saving
